The idea for this Beaded Beasties box frame began with the wonderful hand-marbled paper by artist Jude Riley that I found during a trip to Wales. It really does create the 'exotic waters'. The colours are also picked out in the iridescent mother-of-pearl centres of the unusual flowers. The other vegetation is made up from recycled wooden beads, a gold leaf and spirals of gold-coloured wire, finished with a natural shell.
I have used a variety of golden beads for the equally exotic dragonfly: a mix of acrylic, glass and metal with a humbug-striped ceramic bead for the head. The wings are printed on acetate.
The grey box frame is 27cm (10.5 ins) square and 3.3cm deep and has a hanging hook on the back.
